Everyone faces challenges they need to overcome in everyday life, and counsellors or therapists provide valuable support to those in emotional need. When stress or trauma occurs, people often reach out to a counsellor or therapist for direction, support, and guidance. This process can help individuals cope with life’s challenges in healthier and more productive ways. Other benefits include relief from symptoms of anxiety, worry, or depression. It can also offer stability and assistance during times of crisis.
Here are four things to remember about us as your Coaches/Therapists/Counsellors to help you feel comfortable:
-
We are regular people too, with our own relationship stresses, work burdens, and we are not immune to anger, grief, or worry. Most importantly, we do not carry any special protection against tragedy.
-
We want you to be open to creating a regular conversation with us, because after all, you are the expert of your own life and the leader of the session.
-
It’s okay to be nervous (we might be too). Think of this as meeting two new friends who are here to support you.
-
Remember, this is for you, and we are here to be part of your support system. It’s normal to feel nervous about something new—remind yourself that this will help you feel better in the long term.
